Title: Communications Specialist

Job Type: Part-time (contractor)

AAI’s Mission Statement: 

Through exhibition and scholarship, the Assyrian Arts Institute promotes Assyrian arts as a way to raise global awareness in order to avoid loss of the Assyrian cultural identity. By mainstreaming the living legacy of Assyrians through their arts, the organization seeks to preserve the Assyrian culture and traditions so that they may be celebrated by all.

Time requirement:  Minimum of 5 hours a week

Compensation:  $15-25; dependent on experience, expertise, and education

Reports to:  Executive Director – Nora Betyousef Lacey


  • Master of Ceremony (MC) – speaker at events 
  • To serve as face of AAI, one of AAI’s spokesperson for AAI via speaking engagements, public and social appearances, and solicitations
  • To keep mailing and email database up to date
  • Manage ticket sales
  • To manage Social Media
    • Manage Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts
    • Maintain social media presence through community engagement
  • Locate user-generated content and format accordingly for social media purposes
    • Respond to inquiries in a timely manner
    • Track analytics to monitor growth
    • Pack promotional materials for influencers and business partners
  • Creating and conducting surveys, trend analysis, and monitoring patron satisfaction
  • To foster the development of good relations with Assyrians and non-Assyrian organizations
  • To continue education and professional development
  • To stay informed and connected; network & be aware of the art related programs done by other organizations
  • Performing other duties assigned by the Executive Director


  1. Enrolled/graduated from undergraduate or graduate school – preferably communications or marketing degree
  2. Strong English written and verbal communication skills
  3. Strong computer skills
  4. Past social media experience (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter)
  5. Be highly detail-oriented, organized, and have project management skills
  6. Strong social and people skills
  7. Strong public speaking skills


  1. Assyrian written (not required) and verbal communication skills (strongly preferred)
  2. Knowledge of Assyrian arts, culture, and heritage
  3. Ability to do graphic design
  4. Experience working with members of a creative team
  5. Strategic planning and resource management skills
